Jacob Crawford

Who is he?

Jacob/Jake Crawford, creative at heart. I spend all of my time trying to expressing myself in endeavors from sketching on concepts, writing and recording music, or skating through Long Beach, California.  

I grew up cruising in culdesacs and playing loud music with my brother and our friends in the Kansas City. I started designing T-shirt graffics for our band and also started modding and building guitars for us to play. Those activities peaked my interest in design. Eventually, I enrolled at University of Kansas for Design and earned a BFA in Industrial Design and Visual Communications with a minor in Art History 

After getting my degree, I spent time living in Chicago and working in design and fabrication during the day different jobs in music and entertainment industry and also . It was amazing to work with artist like Wu-tang Clan, Bad Brains, and Paramore. I was loving Chicago for a million reasons but I wasnt finding the expirence designing footwear until I had the opportunity to move to California for an apprenticeship at Vans.

Designed sneakers from sketches to final product. The sneakers have ranged from performance skate footwear to lifestyle kids novelty; most recently his work has been more trend driven styles from casual shoes, Y2K and sport inspired. Jake uses athlete feedback, research and inspiration from travel, art, fashion and street culture to ensure his designs meet the functional and stylistic needs too excite the people, punks, kids, skateboarders, and normies alike.


Footwear Skills: Sketching, Technical Drawing, Tech Packs, Working directly with Development, Making timely changes on my footwear for fit, style and function. I have compiled photos taken on market travel to create mood boards and trend direction to guide my art and create color pack for specific consumers.

I have also designed unique accessories, custom packaging, and new textiles from working with LTD and SMU collaborators such as: Quasi, Hockey, Fucking Awesome, Alltimers, etc.
