With this project, it started and ends with the athlete and perssonifying thier art, style and expression into the final product that he enjoys and wantss to lace up and hit the streets. The goal was to design and adapation to Gilbert Crockett’s existing low top model as a high top, but Gil wanted to take things further.

Crockett came to the design team at Vans with images of midcentury millitary boots and basketball shoes from the same era, as a lover of all things made in America. With those influences in mind we knew it would be a good direction to separate from the line
